Read MoreA walk among the aspen
This is not my usual style, as those who follow me know, but I wanted to try and replicate the feeling I had at this moment.
I started my hike along the Colorado Trail in the dark hoping to find a composition for sunrise. Darkness broke and pre dawn light illuminated my path through the forest. First light is typically characterized by very low saturation and vibrance of the colors and generally very low contrast. I was stopped in my tracks when I came upon this scene because of how these normal rules of pre sunrise light seemed to have been broken.
The aspen leaves were like golden paint splatters on a monochromatic canvas of aspen trunks. Maybe it was the fact that the tree trunks lacked any color at all but it really made the leaves pop.
A cool moment that I enjoyed soaking in before continuing down the trail. I hope you like this little abstract edit, like I said, to try and portray what caught my eye about this composition!
