Knowing the orientation of the palace (180° to the sunrise) I hoped to capture it with the soft blue and pink hues of the earth shadow behind it. When I arrived 30 minutes before sunrise the last of the blue hour light was happening, characterised by the deep and rich blues you can see in this image. I instantly knew this was as good if not better than what I had planned, so I shifted gears to get this shot as soon as I could l before the ambient light increased. I'm glad I did because the earth shadow was barely noticable on this particular morning and with more ambient light comes less powerful lighting on the architecture.
This was the very first shot of the morning and it was the best. Well, my favorite anyway.
