Zabriskie Point Sunrise
Death Valley completely shattered all of my assumptions and expectations. Not only did it push my physical boundaries, but it pushed my capabilities as a photographer in the most amazing way. I don't want to become a photographer who rocks up at a place, gets the shot, then leaves. Nor do I want to be someone that gets out and soley hikes and explores without bringing photos home too. For me, photography enhances the experience of being in the great outdoors and allows me to personalize my adventure. No one else has this photo, and that makes this memory of Zabriskie Point very special to me. I also will always enjoy experiencing a place through my physical senses. This morning I shot Zabriskie Point at sunrise, then proceeded on a 7 mile hike through this incredible landscape. Both activities gave me immense pleasure and satisfaction and leave me with a much richer encounter and memory than either could on their own.
