It can be intimidating when trying to photograph a place that is so vast and expansive. It's not always clear how to define a subject or capture the scale of what you're experiencing. But waiting for light to highlight certain parts of the scene can really help you narrow in on a composition. Here I could almost see in my minds eye and imagine the walls of a derelict city in the way the rocks are formed and being struck by the sunset light. Do you see it?
Imagination should play a huge role in anything creative, even photography. It's the brain that explores and processes the world we live in and therefore the images we create. Some of my favorite photographs are those that make my brain do a little work and allow my imagination to fill in the gaps.
