A highlight of my camping trip this summer was the night I had Sawtooth Canyon Campground all to myself. Nestled into the cliffs, each site had their own unique backdrop and view of this awesome landscape. I drove round at least twice searching for the perfect site, they were all so good. I arrived from my 8 hour car journey just in time to pitch my tent, climb up the rocky outcrop above my site to snap this sunset shot before cooking dinner and watching the milky way rise over the geological formations that surrounded me on all sides. Having only the sights and sounds of the Mojave Desert for company, the peace, stillness, quiet and the awareness of being on my own miles from anyone all work to create memories that won't fade anytime soon. Today our senses are constantly being numbed by the technology that we devote more and more of our lives too. Experiences like this night out in the wilderness remind me how important it is to unplug, touch and feel nature in a risky, but real, way. There's just no substitute.
