Santa Cruz Island
This is Santa Cruz Island, the largest of the 8 islands that make up the Channel Islands National Park in Southern California. It has a fascinating story to tell and has experienced massive change throughout its history, both natural and human induced. Now, through hugely effective conservation efforts, it's a rugged oasis with no cell phone service, only 2 water spickets, very few visitors and a whole lot of wilderness just 20 miles from the Southern California coastline. I can't wait to go back.
