Proboscis Bat

A beautifully camouflaged Proboscis Bat roosts on the underside of a tree branch overhanging the Mopan River at the border of Belize and Gautemala.

One thing I really like about this image is its all natural and unique lighting. The underside of the branch and therefore the bat is being lit by late afternoon sunlight reflecting from the river surface below. This low angle light also helps bring out that vibrant green foliage on the opposite river bank, which creates a unique and colorful backdrop.
